Examination Syllabus for Senior Recorders

 

 

Theory:

 

·         Knowledge and understanding of  Booking-In  procedures.

·         Knowledge and understanding of the administration of all methods of  elimination

·         Knowledge and understanding of all methods and systems of progressing a competition through the various

·         rounds

·         Knowledge and understanding of  the Seeding System

·         Knowledge and understanding of  Points Scoring System

·         Knowledge and  ability to compile all competition forms from given information

·         Knowledge and  ability to use timing and scoring equipment

 

Practical:

 

Must have held  the Competition Recorder award for a minimum of 18 months and have assisted at Control and applied for at least three 2 Star Tournament Licensed events., 2 of which must be SENIOR COMPETITIONS which should be recorded and signed by the Competition Controller in your Competition Recorder authority card. Then pass the Senior Recorder exam paper with a minimum pass mark of  80%.

 

 

Competition Controllers Award

 

 

Promotion from Senior Recorder is by practical assessment and interview

 

Applicants must be active as Senior Recorders who possess a sound, broad based working knowledge of competitions and should have first-hand experience of all aspects pertaining to the organising, running, and controlling of events for both junior and senior players.

 

Suitable Senior Recorders are nominated by  B.J.A  Area’s, by  the B.J.A  Board of Directors or the National Competitions Commission.

 

Applicants will be invited to a National or Area competition of similar Star Rating (to assist the Competition Controller) under supervision in the first instance and then for assessment, and finally an interview by members of the National Competitions Commission.

 

To obtain the award of   Competition Controller, application forms should be obtained from the Director of the Award  Scheme.

 

Completed forms should be returned to the Director of the Award Scheme together with a stamped, self addressed envelope who will arrange a date and venue for a practical examination by members of the National Competitions Commission

 

Practical:

 

Must have held a Senior Recorder award for a minimum of 2 years and organised and applied for at least THREE  2-Star Tournament Licensed events, one of which must include Senior players. They should also have assisted at TWO points scoring events and have a thorough knowledge of the Dan Grade promotion points system.  Applicants for this award will be invited to attend at least one National event to work with a member of the National Competitions Commission to ascertain their practical knowledge.

 

Finally an interview with members of the National Competitions Commission will be arranged to assess the candidate’s knowledge of the B.J.A  Competition Rules and their ability to make decisions on subjects not covered by the rules.
